Plexim GmbH was founded as a spinoff company from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ETH Zurich in June 2002. It was first hosted by the Power Systems Laboratory at the Department of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering. In February 2005, the headquarters were moved to Technopark Zurich to accommodate the company’s growth.
Plexim is a global leader in simulation software for power electronic systems. Our software, PLECS, enables customers to speed up product development and innovation by reducing design time and cost.
The PLECS® product family has been specifically developed to assist engineers with the design and implementation of complex power electronics systems. PLECS tools facilitate the selection of power-conversion topologies, allow for the sizing of components and thermal management systems, and expedite the conception and realization of sophisticated control algorithms.
With the intuitive, easy-to-use schematic editor, new models are set up quickly. Thanks to a proprietary handling of switching events, simulations of power electronic circuits are fast and robust. Whether one is simulating a simple power electronic converter or a complex electric drive, PLECS is a powerful tool that will quickly lead to accurate and meaningful results.
PLECS is available in two different editions. The user can choose between PLECS Blockset for MATLAB®/Simulink® and the independent PLECS Standalone solution.
Since 2002, our software is the industry standard for power electronics simulation across various industries. Typical applications are renewable energy, automotive, aerospace, industrial and traction drives, and power supplies. Our customers include market leaders such as ABB, Bombardier, Bosch, Danfoss, GE, Philips, Siemens and SMA.
In April 2009, Plexim opened an office in Cambridge, Massachusetts to provide direct technical support to our North American customers. With offices in Zurich and the Boston area, and the support of local representatives worldwide, we are always close to our customers.
